Saara Piispa will tell you that the brand new car you just bought - on credit - was a crazy and irresponsible purchase. Then she will gently tell you why.
Saara Piispa, she paints for a living. Did you know that? She paints large paintings, small paintings. She can paint paintings of any size really. Because size does not matter. What matters is the amount of greatness found in these paintings. Sometimes you see a car, a field. Sometimes you see a bridge. Sometimes a mountain, sometimes a train. But mostly you see the sky and the almost empty space beneath is. 'Almost' is an important word, it contains everything we are. We are almost and that is what we get to face, in full colors, in the paintings of Saara Piispa.
Her paintings look fluid. They don't scream or flash or laugh at you. They visit your thoughts on an unexpected basis like gentle ghosts who are there to remind you that life is short and is it really how you want to spend yours? They show you what you need to see and, in their economy, they give your thoughts and your emotions space to land.
